Tempting Providence

The first time I saw Tempting Providence, it was a studio run. My 2nd year theatre class – totally enamoured of our very cool teacher Jillian Keiley – were invited in to watch a rehearsal. That was in 2005. Since then I have probably seen the show a dozen times, with various cast configurations. Now, 20 years later, I get to run those rehearsals.

To my absolute DELIGHT, Artistic Fraud has invited me on to the Tempting team as Assistant Director. In 9 days of rehearsal (3 with Jill to guide us) we are putting up this deceptively simple, carefully choreographed, character-driven four-hander to tour to my old stomping grounds on Fogo Island and Change Islands, then a night at The Garrick in Bonavista, before it opens for a run as part of Perchance Theatre’s repertory season.

The script is beautiful. The staging is ingenious. The acting is swift and complex. There’s a reason it’s been running for 20 years. Check the Perchance schedule and make sure you see this.
