A Grand Affair: a remount of a re-enactment

In July, I had the pleasure of directing A Grand Affair: the story of the transatlantic telegraph cable in Heart’s Content, NL. It is a sweet 30-minute play about the massive effort behind laying a single telegraph line along the ocean floor from Ireland to Newfoundland, and it was presented on July 27th, the 150th anniversary of the successful landing.

A second cable – one of the previous attempts, which had broken not far offshore – was retrieved, mended and re-laid to make a second solid connection to Europe on September 10th of 1866, so we are doing it again!
